He was the man who gave the famous actor, Lou Gossett, Jr. his first big break in "My Sweet Charley". Ever since I've known him, he always helped the underdog. A few years ago, he wrote the introduction to my "In Search Of My Rib" poetry book. And from time to time, he'd surprise a struggling writer with an unsolicited check in the mail - a real morale-building gift. He was a great friend and will be missed."
